OneSimCard Adds Voice and SMS Capability to International eSIM Service

International Voice and SMS capabilities on eSIM allows customers to enjoy significant savings while traveling overseas with their eSIM enabled mobile device.

OneSimCard, Inc. today announced the addition of Voice and SMS functionality on its worldwide eSIM roaming service for international travelers. This update enables all OneSimCard international eSIMs with voice calling and SMS messaging to existing eSIM data service. The eSIM is initially available on compatible devices such as iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XS, XS Max, and XR, and the Google Pixel 3a, 3 XL, 4 and 4 XL. Additional devices will be added as compatible devices become commercially available.

At launch, the travel eSIM was limited to data access only, but this enhancement makes OneSimCard one of the only International Roaming services to offer voice, SMS & data on eSIM, allowing customers to enjoy significant savings of up to 85% on all three services (voice, SMS and data). Another great feature was added to the eSIM which allows customers to add a local secondary phone number and make and receive calls and send SMS messages from their local number.

OneSImCard users also have the advantage of accessing multiple networks in many countries for a more reliable mobile connection. They will also have the ability to use their smartphone as a hotspot enabling multiple devices to enjoy 4G speeds (where available) at no additional charge. Additionally, customers will still be able to use the OneSim VOIP App, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, for access to OneSimCard’s highly discounted VOIP voice and SMS service.

eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is the latest disruption in the mobile connectivity industry for consumer devices and represents a shift from the traditional physical SIM on which most GSM compatible devices depend for connectivity. eSIM technology is expected to fully replace the physical SIM card in mobile devices in the not-too-distant future because eSIM has many benefits. Consumers will save shipping costs and delivery time by simply downloading the eSIM using a QR code. They can easily switch between providers before, and after, traveling without needing to replace the plastic SIM, & they can now have several profiles on their device (e.g. one for work and one for personal use) – turning their device into a dual SIM phone.

OneSimCard’s CEO, Alex Filippov, commented, “The launch Voice and SMS on our eSIM solution is a major addition to eSIM, and we expect tremendous adoption in the months and years to come. We are extremely excited about this new functionality for our global travelers.” Mr. Filippov went on to say, “OneSimCard has always stayed on the forefront of technology and we have already seen many customers switching to eSIM. This will allow our users to enjoy the same great service they are used to from our traditional global roaming SIM.”

Did you know you can use OneSimCard eSIM with Google Pixel 3A and Pixel 4?

In addition to many eSIM capable iPhone models, OneSimCard eSIM can also be used with Google Pixel 3A and Pixel 4.

With OneSimCard eSIM you can:
• Take advantage of OneSimCard global data roaming plans without changing the SIM
• Make low cost voice calls and send texts with the free OneSIM VoIP app
• Simply download and go! No shipping needed.

5 Things to Try While Attending the Summer Olympics in Tokyo

Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan

For the second time in fifty-six years, Tokyo, the Japanese capital, will host the Summer Olympic Games. The Olympics are set to take place over two weeks, which gives you ample time to take part in the Games and do a bit of exploring in this great city. Tokyo is one of the biggest and vibrant metropolitan cities in the world and it’s no surprise that it provides an experience like no other. It accommodates the usual sights like museums, unique restaurants and temples but also offers non-traditional experiences that are even more alluring. Why not get enchanted with the beautiful mix of past, present, and future that is Tokyo? Here is a list of unique sites and activities you can indulge in while taking a break from the bustle of the games.

1. Cosplay While Driving a Mario Go Kart On The Streets Of Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan – Mario street kart tour

This is one of the most thrilling activities you can do right in the streets of Tokyo. That’s right…you can rent and ride a real-life Mario Go Kart while dressed up as your favorite character. You’re assured of an adrenaline kick from driving past skyscrapers and passing other cars and buses on the road in your tiny go-kart and your cool costume. The karts are easy to run, and all you need is an international driving permit. The ride takes you through areas like Akihabara and Shibuya where you see a variety of sights from quiet residential regions to viewing the bustling city crossings. The views as you cruise around Tokyo Tower and go across the massive Rainbow Bridge are breathtakingly picturesque. Be sure to choose the two-hour course which is enough to get you comfortable driving the go-kart and give you loads of time to visit as much of the city as possible.

2. Experience the Otaku and Kawaii Culture

Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan

In Akihabara, anyone who’s obsessed with electronics or a particular culture such as Anime (AKA the “Otaku”) finds a home. The area features cosplay shops, maid cafes, video game shops and all things colorful and bizarre. There are also a couple of filming locations here that anime fans would find rather exciting. The female version of the experience – Butler cafes – is offered over at Ikebukuro.

Kawaii, the rampant obsession of everything cute, has its own culture and is brought to life in maid cafes. Here the maids dress in slightly risqué cosplay costumes as they serve you. Every cafe has different policies and fines. It’s smart to ask about what you’re allowed to do in the Maid Cafe, like taking pictures, lest you find yourself with a big fine. Otherwise, enjoy your cutely plated meal and relax.

3. Shop Till You Drop at Don Quijote, Harajuku and Uniqlo

Takashita Street, Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan

Shopping will be high on your to-do list because of the large number of big department stores and sprawling shopping malls all over the city. The first and most natural choice in shopping would be the quirky discount store that is Don Quixote (aka DONKI). This 24-hour store has locations in several areas with its most significant branch (which stands at seven stories) located at Shibuya. It sells everything imaginable from snacks, household goods, traditional souvenirs, clothes, cosmetics, and many more items.

If your tastes run towards the Kawaii culture and all things chic, Harajuku is the place for you. Harajuku is the heart and soul of hundreds of stylish and trendy boutiques that feature high-end street clothing brands. Its streets, like Omotesando Street and Meiji Street, have large shopping malls that cater to adults and Japanese fashion. The teenage culture is covered on Takeshita Street at the center of everything (pictured above). Harajuku also has numerous cafes and food stands ready to offer you tasty treats as you take a break from your hunt of trendy items.

The flagship store of Uniqlo, a Japanese casual-wear designer, is in Ginza. The store covers sprawling 12 floors and offers inexpensive, but high-quality, clothing essentials. So, drop by and see what’s on offer if you find yourself in the neighborhood.

4. Give the Pachinko Parlors a Try

Pachinko parlour

Located all around the city, Pachinko is known as the top gambling game in Japan. What started as a pinball-esque children’s game in its development skyrocketed into a not-so-legal hypnotic game. The Parlour owners have worked a loophole that lets them skirt the laws on gambling and continue staying open. Join the frenzy that attracts practically everyone in Tokyo and seat yourself in front of a Pachinko machine.

5. Visit the Japanese Animation Studio Ghibli Museum

Ghibli Museum, Mitaka, Japan

Japan is head over heels for anime, so your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to where the magic happens. Ghibli Studios are the creators of the classic films Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. Get ready to get a glimpse of Hayao Miyazaki’s works and drawings together with set props from your favorite movies. They show short Japanese animation and give you in-depth information on the history and techniques of bringing animation to life. Make sure you book a ticket early because they get sold out weeks in advance. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

3 things that will make your stay in Tokyo run smoothly

The summer Olympics is an exciting experience on their own, but it doesn’t hurt to apply some skill and caution while in the city. Here are some ways you can make your stay better.

  • Get OneSimCard

Just because you are traveling doesn’t mean that you should stay off the grid. With OneSimCard international SIM card, you can stay connected with your friends and family as you explore Tokyo and make memories.

See rates and coverage for Japan and other countries here.

  • Get a Suica Card

The Express train is the easiest way to get from one station to the next within Tokyo. A Suica card will work as a ticket on all trains and metro lines and even work on vending machines when you need to buy something. Some shops also accept it as payment which makes it very handy!

  • Don’t forget travel insurance

Japanese health care is rather costly, so make sure your travel insurance is enough to cover you over your stay.

Tokyo has so many quirky & cool things to offer so don’t just stop at our shortlist of adventures. Feel free to make your stay longer or plan another visit to this attractive city to cover more activities and fun!

Getting the Most Out of Your Travel eSIM from OneSimCard

eSIMeSIMs are the latest “disruption” in the SIM card industry and they have many benefits for users. But how do you know if you are getting the most out of your eSIM’s functionality? We want to share one of the biggest benefits of having an eSIM loaded in your iPhone or Pixel phone – creating a personal hotspot to share your data with other devices.

I recently took a trip to Croatia and Slovenia with my wife and I had the OneSimCard international eSIM loaded into my Pixel phone. My wife carries a Samsung 8 and doesn’t have eSIM available. While we were in hotels and other spots with good Wi-Fi connectivity, she and I both took advantage of those connections for our data connection (especially so she could stream her favorite True Crime television shows). However, while we were away from those free Wi-Fi spots, I enabled my Pixel to share its data connection with my wife so we could both take advantage of the 4G internet connection at OneSimCard’s inexpensive international roaming rates. This allowed she and I to both stay connected and never miss a shareable moment with our friends and family at home (or to get directions back to our hotel when we got lost…happens a lot with us!).

Creating a personal hotspot (sometimes also called tethering) your eSIM enabled iPhone or Pixel phone is very simple. Here are the steps for each (NOTE: Make sure you have the OneSimCard eSIM profile turned on):

For iPhone:

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone 11

Go to the Settings Menu, then tap “Personal Hotspot”

On the next page, turn on “Allow Others to Join”:

Your iPhone is now discoverable by Wi-Fi and all they need is your hotspot password to share your data connection.

For Pixel Phone:

  • Pixel 3a
  • Pixel 4

Swipe down from the top of the screen and then top Hotspot:

Your Pixel is now discoverable by Wi-Fi and all they need is your hotspot password to share your data connection. You can obtain your hotspot password by holding down on the Hotspot icon for about a second.

Don’t have an eSIM yet? Buy a travel eSIM from OneSimCard today and save.

The snow-capped cathedrals, the wooden chalets, the different twinkling lights, and other street decorations are quite a sight to see. You also can’t miss the seasonal cookies and cakes that are on display in stores all around the town.

People from Europe undoubtedly know how to do Christmas in style, and if you are there during this period, be sure to check out the markets. They often open at the end of November, so we thought it wise to give you a headstart of the best Christmas markets.

Are you heading to Europe this season? Don’t leave before you check out these top 5 Christmas markets.

1. Berlin, Germany

If you are looking for a place to buy some trendy gifts, the artsy Berlin scene should be your first stop. The city gives a modern approach to a long-standing tradition in over 80 Christmas markets. The markets are open from November 25th through December 31st this year.

Covering the 80 markets won’t be easy, so here are a few tips. Spandau is the biggest, so there are plenty of activities to occupy your time. Weihnachtszauber, in Gendarmenmarkt Square, is the prettiest with the Charlottenburg Palace in the background. With the decorative fences and lights in the market, you are sure to enjoy a warm festive glow. Your toddler could even try some arts and crafts in the Fairy Tale Tent at Gendarmenmarkt. That’d make a great souvenir of your adventure!

Are you bringing your kids along? The winter forest, Winterland at Potsdamer Platz, is an excellent place for them. They could get free lessons at the ice-skating rink, head over to the small railway, or the air swing, which are just a few of the activities there.

2. Vienna, Austria

Are you looking to have some magical Christmas time with your family or spouse? Then you should head over to the Vienna Christmas markets.

From 15th November to 26th December, the beautiful squares in Vienna will transform into delightful Christmas markets.

Belvedere Palace will leave you in awe, thanks to the handmade gifts and the traditional wooden toys in the stores around.

The City Hall is home to Vienna’s Christmas Dream and is the ideal market if you are bringing your family along. The kids could have some time in the Ferris wheel or on the ground floor where they learn how to make Christmas candles.

Be sure to visit the market at Vienna’s old general hospital for some lovely Christmas gifts. Try out the traditional Gluhwein while there. You’ll love it.

3. Strasbourg, France

Strasbourg is also known as France’s Capital of Christmas, and it is clear why once you visit. Dating back to 1570, Strasbourg is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Christmas Markets began in Strasbourg, so the historic center gives a magical feel. You can get some wooden Christmas decorations in the 300 traditional chalets lining the city’s central square.

The Strasbourg Cathedral is a sight to behold. The Gothic towers and the famous astronomical clock will make your visit worthwhile.

If you want some uninterrupted Christmas shopping, avoid the markets in the evenings and during the weekends. Try out the gingerbread bakery and other delicious treats that are available all around the markets.

Christmas in Strasbourg is a magical event. If you are ever in France anytime between 22nd November and 30th December, visit the place. If you are lucky, you could be part of a street parade.

4. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague’s Christmas markets run into January, so they are ideal for some after-Christmas shopping when there aren’t as many people. Open-air concerts, dance performances, and beautiful Christmas decorations in the streets give the city an unforgettable atmosphere.

The live animal stable scene at the Old Town Square is quite a sight. If you are bringing your kids, this will undoubtedly capture their imagination. The gingerbread cookies will also be a great treat for them.

You can try out some of the renowned Czech Beer from the stalls in the streets. There’s also plenty of mulled wine to go around, but why not mingle with the locals over a glass of grog? The drink, which is made of rum, water, lemon, and sugar, is a favorite for many around here.

If you want to catch the lights at the city’s marvelous Christmas tree, head over to Wenceslas Square at 5 o’clock every evening.

5. Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen boasts of several Christmas markets, but the heart of all the buzz in the city lies in Tivoli gardens. From November 16th to January 5th, the gardens will be lined with Christmas trees and decorations that bring the city to life. The markets create a cozy atmosphere for travelers and locals to enjoy a special time with their loved ones.

The mouth-watering aroma of roasted almonds and mulled wine in the streets will bring you joy as you walk through the markets. Be sure to have some before heading over to the ice rink. For the ultimate spectacle during your visit to Copenhagen, be sure to visit Kronpinsensgade and see the floating ceiling of Christmas lights.

If you need a break from all the festivities, you can head over to the Meatpacking district and spend some time in the bars, clubs, and restaurants.

Vacationing in Europe during this period can be exciting. But keeping in touch with your loved ones may be difficult because of expensive international roaming rates. International eSIM coming soon to eSIM enabled iPhones

Recently, we have been getting many requests for international eSIMs for eSIM enabled iPhones.

If you aren’t aware of this technology, eSIM is a short for embedded SIM, where SIM is an acronym for Subscriber Identity Module. So, an eSIM is an Embedded Subscriber Identity Module.

How is eSIM different from a regular SIM?

We all know what a SIM card is — the little thing that allows your phone to connect to the network. When you buy our SIM card, you pop out your SIM card, drop ours into the phone, and voila!—cellular service is up and running. That’s going to change with eSIM, because as the “embedded” part of the name suggests, this is actually built into the phone’s mainboard.

The eSIM we provide is simply a QR code that will act as a second SIM on your phone. At launch, we will be supporting only data connectivity on eSIM. It will be compatible with the following iPhone eSIM capable models:  iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

We expect to have eSIM launched and available for purchase in the next few weeks. Look for a separate communication that announces the launch!

The first and second floors pay tribute to temporary fisheries and naval exhibitions. The third floor hosts educational workshops and a library open to everyone where people can learn more about the naval history of the country.

One of the best exhibitions includes the San Juan Basque whaling ship that sank near the Canadian coast in 1565. An exact replica of the ship is currently being build in Albaola.

While passing by the museum, check out the San Sebastian aquarium, peek inside and you will be amazed by the naval history of the area.

5 Unique and Refreshing Things to do While in France

5 Unique and Refreshing Things to do While in France

France is a travel destination for every traveler worth their salt. The country is known globally for its rich, unique culture, especially in the artsy areas. Be it the delicious foods, breathtaking sights, creative fashion, tasty wines, or the vibrant historical and modern art, France is home to every kind of traveler.

Even with a variety of destinations, some of the cities are more popular than others, and for good reason. However, going to the popular attractions may not be as satisfying. Unless you are willing to wait in long lines, why not switch things up a little?

Looking for a unique and refreshing experience while in France? Here are five unusual things you need to do while there.

1. Fish with the Locals in Les Goudes, Marseille

Le port des Goudes by Jeanne Menjoulet

The second-largest city in France hosts about 15 million visitors annually. However, very few of these tourists visit the sleepy village of Les Goudes.

Located about 40 minutes east of Le Vieux Port, the small village is ideal for some relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the main port. Because it is quite far off the coast, it is advisable to take public transport.

Interact with the local fishermen and their families that go back for several generations. Take a rocky 20-minute walk to Baie des Singes and explore the little cove. Then head over to the Restaurant Baie des Singes for some fresh fish and local wine. Top your day off with by roaming in the public beach and watch the sunset from the lovely sandy shores.

2. Get Lost in the Secret Passageways of Croix-Rousse, Lyon

Longue Traboule by Groume

In the middle ages, silk merchants in Lyon had to find a way to transport the silk without it getting wet. Thus, the idea of secret underground passages came to be. These passages have withstood time and history, and while they are now privately owned, some are still open to the public.

The passages, known as Traboules, are located in Vieux Lyon and help connect the different streets in the city. Discover these secret tunnels and walk through the history of the silk merchants….just be sure to remain quiet since there are inhabitants in the buildings.

3. Explore Space in Cite de L’espace, Toulouse

Even with the vast population, Toulouse continues to be the most underrated French city in terms of tourism. However, this beautiful city is a lovely blend of old and new architectural designs.

While in Toulouse, make sure you visit Cite de L’espace. Now in its 22nd year of operation, this theme park is an ideal way to spend an afternoon in Toulouse. With life-sized models of spacecraft and learning exhibits, you are bound to learn a lot in a single visit.

If you are more inclined to aviation, head over to Aeroscopia Museum to learn a bit of the history of flying.

4. Sip on Some Wine in the Chateau de Bellet Vineyards, Nice

Known for its beachy ambiance, Nice presents the perfect location for some afternoon unwinding. And while doing so, make sure you get to the Chateau de Bellet Vineyards for some fine wine to cap off your day.

Located just 20 minutes from the airport, the vineyards are enriched with a splendid history of the Barons of Bellet. The wine is made from some rare grapes that are grown on sulfurous terrain, giving them a unique minerally taste. Get to sip on some of South Europe’s most exquisite wine while learning about a winemaking tradition that has been passed down the generations since circa 1777.

A visit to the Chateau includes a walk through the wine cellar and a visit to Bellet Chapel along with a leisurely stroll through the vineyards.

5. Experience the Nightlife with a Panorama View from atop Montparnasse Tower, Paris

Of course, a vacation to France is not complete without a visit to the City of Lights. And speaking of lights, be sure to enjoy the beautiful nighttime view from the Montparnasse Tower.

From the tower, you get to have a panorama view of Paris featuring the city’s most significant landmarks. A nighttime view of La Tour Eiffel from the tower is impressive. What’s more, getting into the tower is less of a hassle as compared to the Eiffel Tower. It is also a bit cheaper.

During the day, head over to the College des Bernadines. The little-known college is home to the precious secrets of Vieux Paris (old Paris), dating back to the 13th century.

Tips to help you Navigate through France

Well, now that you have a list of places to travel, you need a couple of tips. When going to any part of the world, it helps to have some suggestions. Here are some tips to help make your vacation to France an enjoyable stay.

  • Learn some common French phrases

With worldwide tourists arriving in their country, the French have chosen to keep their language alive. English is uncommon, so come prepared with a French guide.

  • Bring some extra cash with you

This tip is helpful when traveling anywhere, not just in France. Always have some extra cash to cover any emergencies while traveling.

  • Use public transport

Taxis in France are expensive and even more so for tourists. Blend in with the locals by using public transport and get to save some money as well. Trains are especially more reliable and can get you to just about any place. You can even use the trams that are located in most cities and follow the main road.

  • Understand the French culture beforehand

You must know as much as you can about the French culture. Doing so will allow you to blend in with the locals. By doing so, you are less likely to look like a tourist, making you a lesser target for pickpockets and thieves in the crowded streets. So, ensure that you dress and behave like the French.

You’ll undoubtedly want to stay in touch with your loved ones, and share lots of the wonderful things you are seeing while in France. Using your local provider’s sim card may incur enormous costs. Bring your prepaid OneSimCard (as your France SIM card) to stay connected at lower charges…up to 85% lower than traditional providers!!

France remains to be one of the most popular travel destinations for tourists worldwide. However, there are several undiscovered gems in this beautiful nation. So, get your suitcases out, start packing and head over to some of these unique tourist attractions for a memorable experience.
